Why we built this

One regulation.
Done completely.

Sustys is a specialist instrument for one regulation. We read your customs declarations, resolve the embedded carbon behind every line, and write the EU file you submit — and we do that, and only that, completely.

Built by an environmental engineer · CBAM-only, on purpose

The scope, on purpose

In scope

  • Embedded emissions of imported CBAM goods
  • The XSD-valid declaration you submit
  • Default vs proven actual, in € and tCO₂e

Out of scope, deliberately

  • Company-wide emissions reporting
  • Carbon offsetting or advice
  • General sustainability consulting

The focus is the product

The thesis

A carbon border only cuts emissions if proof is easy.

CBAM puts a price on the carbon embedded in imported steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen and electricity. But when a supplier’s real emissions can’t be proven, the rule falls back to a default set to the dirtiest way the good is made — so the importer overpays, and the cleaner producer earns nothing for being clean. The mechanism only works in reverse of how it should.

We started Sustys from the other end: make the proof legible, and the incentive flips. When an importer can show a supplier’s actual emissions, the bill falls, the carbon recorded against the import falls, and the next order goes to the producer who earned it. That is the carbon border doing what it was designed to do — and it turns on one number being easy to read, line by line.

How we build

Specialist, not general. That’s deliberate.

The competitive instinct is to widen — add modules, chase the whole sustainability budget. We do the opposite: one regulation, the entire job, held to an audit standard.

  • 01

    One regulation

CBAM, completely — not a sustainability suite with a CBAM tab. The whole job: read the customs PDF, resolve the embedded carbon, write the file the registry accepts.

  • 02

    Proof over assumption

The default value assumes the dirtiest production. We exist to put the proven actual next to it, so the cleaner producer stops paying for emissions they never made.

  • 03

    Legible by design

Every line carries a verdict and a number you can trace. Nothing is final until a person approves it, and every change is on an audit trail.

  • 04

    We hold the line

Embedded emissions of imported goods, for the declaration. We don’t drift into company-wide emissions reporting, offsetting, or advice — the focus is the point.

Who’s behind it

Two founders, one of them an environmental engineer.

A small team, building one thing carefully for the EU. We sign our own work — and one of us co-signs every reference calculation by hand.

Co-founder & CEO

Ayfer ERDOGAN

A senior environmental engineer with 10+ years across industrial emissions management, ISO 14001 systems, internal audit and regulatory compliance, and a degree thesis on climate change. She owns the carbon side: where the default applies, what it takes for a proven actual to hold up, and the reference values every calculation is checked against — co-signed, by hand.

Co-founder · CTO

Burak ERDOGAN

The technical lead — owns the build end to end: the architecture, the tech stack, and the forensic pipeline that reads the customs PDF without re-keying, holds the line-by-line ledger and its audit trail, and produces the XSD-valid file the registry accepts. Fifteen years in senior technical, project-management and consulting roles across the public sector and the defence industry, with a degree in business.

The legal entity arrives with the public launch.

The mission

We want the carbon border to be remembered as the policy that made clean production pay. For that, the proof has to be legible, auditable, and filable — so we built the instrument that makes it so, for one regulation, completely.
